Conversations With God

Last year I had the honor of attending a “Conversations With God” workshop with Neale Donald Walsch. The first thing I want to say is don’t let language get in your way. If you don’t like the word God, please replace it with whatever works for you. In this day and time, that word can be charged with emotion, fear, anger or love. Use what works for you. That is the name of his book, hence the title of my post.
One of the first things that I noticed about this man was his calm presence and the fact that he went around the room shaking everyone’s hand and thanking them for being there. He set up the ‘conversation experience’ by first telling us the 7 steps to Conversations With God.
1) Believe there is a God
2) Believe that God talks to humans directly
3) Believe that He talks to humans directly right now, and that you are one of them
4) Believe that you are worthy to receive the message
5) Be open and ready to receive it
6) Don’t discount or reject the message
7) Try not to call it something else
He then asked us to write a question down in our notebook. After guiding us through a brief meditation, he asked us to answer that question with whatever came up for us –
Here is my ‘Conversation With God’
Question : How do I open my heart to feel?
Answer : Do not be afraid. The heart will not break. An open heart is one of God’s greatest gifts yet man doesn’t understand and tries to dampen a perfect instrument. Be guided by an open heart. Play it like an instrument and delight in the chords that are played. Do not fear. You are safe.
I think the answer I received says it all.
